We would like to make the world more eco-friendly of ours and of our pets at Flamingo. This is the reason why we give consideration on the potential substitute materials to each of our new product that we are going to launch in our schedule. Most pet products are also made of plastic so as to make cleaning easier. In 2021, we introduced “Flamingo Green,” with 67 products made from recycled or recyclable natural materials to reduce waste. This aligns with the growing trend of “How Pet Shops Are Going Eco-Friendly.”
We also provide a selection of 12 baskets and beds that are suitable as bedding or pet products consisting of recycled polyester fiber together with 4 varieties of waste bags that are compostable made of plant materials that are 100 percent suitable in a home compost bin.
Sustainable Products and Supplies
Beginning in 2023, we will provide information through our product information management system that a product is made with recycled materials, and the percentage of it that is recycled. So, in the future, we will be capable of following our progress in terms of ratio of recycled products and materials more carefully and to make sustainability our norm. The next step which we are planning to take is getting FSC certification of our packaging and products.
FSC certification also focuses on felling of trees in a proper and safe way. That is significant. We would not like to brand our products as environmental friendly. It is an extremely broad term, which is ambiguous and misleading. In our days, there is no 100 percent environmental friendly product. This would imply that there is minimal ecological footprint and this can be recycled to 100%. Up to date, it is not possible yet.

At Flamingo however we strive as much as possible to investigate how we can make every product more environmentally friendly so as to minimize its consequences to the environment.
